Summary: A major pipeline and development company has an existing pipeline under the Calcasieu River in western Louisiana. The soil covering the pipeline has eroded away exposing the pipeline, creating an unsafe situation. Access for heavy machinery and personnel to the Calcasieu River is vital to the project of repairing the pipeline. The land is typical western Louisiana rolling landscape with pine forest and periodic wet valleys between each hill; this creates problems for heavy vehicle access. The alignment of the existing right-of way through the forest meanders and undulates with the terrain, yet DURA-BASE was able to conform to the alignment while maintaining the correct road-width. Since DURA-BASETM was installed, heavy traffic has been traveling the road safely and expediently.
